Ambassador Zhang Ming Holds a Video Meeting with Representatives of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China

On October 8, 2021, Ambassador Zhang Ming, Head of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the EU, held a video meeting with Joerg Wuttke, President of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, and representatives of European companies in China.

On behalf of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Wuttke briefed Ambassador Zhang on the main content of the European Business in China Position Paper 2021 and said that EU companies hit a record high in their business in China and have full confidence about their future development in China. Wuttke also offered his views and suggestions on building a new development pattern of “dual-circulation”, improving domestic market supervision, strengthening supply chain resilience, facilitating cross-border personnel movement, developing low-carbon economy and responding to climate change.

Ambassador Zhang stressed that with increasing contacts and dialogues recently, high-level exchanges have again played a leading role in driving the development of China-EU relations. This year, China-EU economic and trade cooperation has maintained a sound momentum, with robust growth in bilateral trade and steady progress in investment cooperation. This demonstrates once again that bilateral cooperation is indeed mutually beneficial. Companies from both sides should cherish the hard-won results and redouble their efforts to jointly advance practical economic and trade cooperation. Ambassador Zhang also had in-depth exchanges of views with representatives of EU companies on issues of interest and their development in China.

Peng Gang, Minister of the Chinese Mission to the EU, also attended the meeting.
