Minister Peng Gang Speaks at the Webinar on China-EU Economic and Trade Relations

On April 26, Mr. Peng Gang, Minister of the Chinese Mission to the EU, attended the Webinar on China-EU Economic and Trade Relations co-sponsored by the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU(CCCEU) and EU-China Business Association(EUCBA), and delivered a keynote speech. Minister Peng was joined by CCCEU Chairman Xu Haifeng, EUCBA Executive Director Gwenn Sonck and more than 100 Chinese and European business people.

In his keynote speech, Minister Peng said that the 23rd China-EU Summit has achieved a lot of positive results and consensus. The Summit has not only laid a solid foundation for the further development of China-EU relations, injected new impetus into China-EU cooperation in various fields, but also provided an important platform for China and the EU to discuss international issues. Over more than 40 years of vigorous development, China-EU bilateral cooperation has grown from a trickle of water into a broad river. Heavy storms may raise waves on the surface, but they cannot prevent the river from rushing forward. At present, Ukraine crisis have caused huge negative impacts on the world. However, it is important to note that China-EU economic and trade cooperation still enjoys a solid foundation and broad prospects. Chinese and European companies should make persistent efforts to deepen cooperation in two big markets of China and the EU. China will provide a better business environment for foreign companies including those from the EU. It is hoped that the EU will uphold the principle of fairness and openness and create a sound business environment for Chinese companies in the EU

Minister Peng also answered questions on topics such as China's prevention and control policies of COVID-19, China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment and EU policy tools.
